Hi. This is umpteenth attempts to make contact with Dr Ducas, Barrie.
T he contact phone number continuously goes to a voice mail system which doesn’t accept messages, but invites callers to call again at earliest convenience. Experience exact same endless loop over four days. Infuriating, disappointing experience.

Unfortunately my Vascular Dr moved back to the East Coast this summer. I was transferred to Dr Anne A Ducas for my ongoing care. I had an appointment for a telephone visit today (9am-3pm). I instructed all friends etc I would not be using the phone until after I had spoken with the Dr today. An urgent problem came up, and I made a quick call to my g’daughter. Imagine my surprise to learn while on this call that I had a voice mail – my phone and not made a sound since before 9 am … and there was nothing in my call list to show that a call had come in – puzzled I checked my voice mail. I was informed that this ‘letter’ was for (my name). Dr Ducas had tried unsuccessfully to reach me. Please return the call as my earliest convenience and a telephone number – wait… different number from the one on my appointment card … ok … so I called, and called, and called and had the same experience as Lorna Trayner (in her review). When I finally reached the office, I was made to feel that the missed call was my fault – I should have been available as I knew the Dr would be calling! Hard to answer a call that went directly to voice mail! I checked all of my settings, in case something had changed – nope – no reason for call to have completely skipped over to voice mail. Did some checking … there is a special number, and in some cases a setting that the CALLER can use to have the call go directly to voice mail without leaving a trace in the calls list! I was told that since I had not been available, the Dr had gone on to the next patient – but would return my call when she is able. That was about 3 hours ago. Still nothing.
I also inquired about the new phone number – apparently she is no longer (6 months later) affilitated with Barrie Vascular Associates – where she was assigned many of Dr Joey McDonald’s patients due to his relocation to the East Coast. Why?? – I believe she was less than 1 year with them … was it only to get a patient list – without having to wait for referrals? I will update this IF / AFTER I am able to speak with Dr Ducas – but I really feel very uncomfortable about this whole change – obviously she left soon after, as in October she was already at the new location – and the seemingly underhanded way of handling telephone appointments!

now almost 2pm … been waiting since 9 am for a call from this dr … she was to call back … just called her office to be sure she knew I had called back. oh yes … but she has gone out – got a call needed in surgery – will rebook at a later date … I would not have known if I had not called her office a 3rd time (had called during 12-1 -that’s lunch – phone does not take messages) ! Unfortunately she must have poorly trained or very overworked staff – when you do get to speak to them they are pleasant – but – I have never before in my life encountered an office where, if Dr was called out, patients booked for rest of day were not notified that Dr was not available – and a new appointment offered.
I guess this is a new era in health care … it is the responsibility of the patient to find out if the Dr is going to be in and available for actual, virtual or telephone appointment – and to be a mind reader that an emergency has arisen and day has changed … no longer the responsibility of the office to notify patients expecting to see / interact / talk to the Dr that day – they must try (often numerous times) to contact the office to get this information. Not really very professional – but seems to be the new reality!
