• 25 August 2020Do not see this doctor. I was sent to the Rockyview Eye Client from the Foothills Emergency department after experiencing some vision issues. At the time I had been in and out of hospital for the past 8 weeks suffering from an undiagnosed inflammation problem and the new vision problems that included blurred vision and some double vision were thought to be possible complications, this from the emergency doctor at the Foothills. Dr. Bill Chow was the doctor on call the day I went to the eye clinic. I first saw a technician(?) who did basic eye tests, put some drops in my eyes and asked me a few questions, I told him all about my past history and what had been going on for the past 5-6 days with my vision. At the time of my visit I was in a wheelchair and was not doing very well. After that I then saw Dr. Chow. Dr Chow spent maybe 2 minutes looking in my eyes and declared I had Cataracts, I felt like he was in a rush and had no interest in understanding what was going on with me. I questioned this as I felt Cataracts do not affect you in one week the way this had, I also mentioned my history. Dr. Chow had the report from the Foothills Emergency in front of him and access to my medical history, but he seemed to ignore this. His advice was for me to get one of his cards and come see him in two months to arrange surgery for the Cataracts. I went home and the next day woke up blind in my right eye. This time I went to the Rockyview Emergency and within 5 minutes of being looked at by the Emergency room doctor was diagnosed with GCA and put on a Steroid treatment, why could an Ophthalmologist not have a clue what was possibly going on. If you value your sight do not see this doctor.
