• 30 August 2021Dr. Clement Sai Yaung Kwok (Dr. Kwok) is infectious diseases specialist.
I was under his care for a few months in 2021.
While he demonstrated his competency in dealing with my medical issues, including infection of the bladder, he has shown very negative attitude and took unreasonable actions toward me as a patient in the IV Clinic (IV Clinic) in Richmond Hospital, BC.
My numerous efforts to consult with Dr. Kwok a month after I was discharged by him from the IV Clinic concerning the treatment routine that he recommended and which produced poor results, were thwarted by him by refusing to consult with me on the phone on the day scheduled by his assistant and by demanding a referral from my family doctor in a specific format as a condition for him to talk to me. Even after his request for a specific referral was fulfilled in a timely manner, he refused to contact me to find out the issues emanating from his recommended treatment and instead he scheduled an appointment for me for a week and a half later, leaving me wondering if I should continue with the treatment that was showing poor results.
Furthermore Dr. Kwok refused to authorize the request from my pharmacist for the renewal of the medication he recommended, which he has done previously.
Overall, in my opinion, Dr. Kwok has shown an attitude toward his patient inconsistent with the goals of the Oath he has taken when obtaining a license to practice medicine. In my view, his arrogant, insensitive, obstructionist and uncaring attitude toward myself makes me feel pity for any patient that require assistance from Dr. Kwok.
