Do NOT under any circumstances, trust your loved one’s care to this man. I cannot call him a doctor, I don’t care how “expert” he claims to be, how many bloody papers he’s authored. His lack of compassion, inability to listen to me or my husband, and his lackadaisical attitude toward patient care, almost rendered my husband paralyzed! Right from my husband’s diagnosis in May, (he has multiple myeloma) this idiot was hardly human, never mind a doctor. For someone who works with cancer patients, he has no people skills whatsoever, and absolutely zero compassion or care for his patients! He recently transferred to Victoria (thank god) and my husband now has a real doctor heading up his care team. Suffice to say, even the chemo nurses who have gotten to know my husband, have nothing good to say about him. They tried on numerous occasions to advocate for my husband to him, and he passed it off every time, stating it was our GP’s responsibility, not his! I have many words I’d like to call him, but for the sake of not swearing, let me say that this man’s lack of attention or follow up with my husband, resulted in him not getting treatment properly and this resulted in him having tumours form on his spine, including one the size of an egg, which has compressed his spine, resulting in agonizing pain, and multiple hospital trips and admissions, all because he refused to listen to me or the nurse, or my husband, when we told him what was going on. Let me be clear: this man should NOT be allowed to treat patients. Period. Maybe he has “book knowledge” but he clearly should not be working with actual people. My husband ended up losing use of his legs yesterday, due to the agony he was in which we found out is from the spinal compression, and that caused him to have fecal incontinence, because he couldn’t get to the bathroom fast enough. My husband is 52, and before his diagnosis he was quite healthy. He has aged right in front of me since this idiot was put in charge of his cancer treatments. My husband’s legs gave out the other day in the shower and had I not been there to catch him and slow him from falling, I shudder to think what could have happened! I am relieved somewhat to know that now my husband has a good care team, headed by an oncologist who has done more for my husband in one day, than Lavoie did ever. It sickens me to think what could have happened to my husband, and the amount of pain he is currently in, due to the utter incompetence of that man! That he hasn’t already caused the death of a patient, or been sued for malpractice astounds me. Avoid this quack at all costs, and if you or your loved one is ever referred to him, ask to be referred to someone, anyone, else! 🤬
