• 24 February 2024I was a dental hygienist for 13 years and have been assisting dentists with oral cancer screening for just as long. I often teach clients to recognize the signs and symptoms of oral cancer.
Today, I presented in the ER with difficulty breathing, feeling like there is a mass in my throat that has been there for a couple of months and getting worse. I’ve had a persistent dry and wet cough for several months.
Dr. Lara came in after 4.5 hours and saw me for 5 minutes, look in my mouth from arms length away, with no direct light. Proceeded to chalk everything up as a “dry cough” and 100% nothing to worry about because of my age and lack of health issues in my history.
She came in and told me she already looked at my X-rays and ultrasound from Feb 10th, when in reality, my most recent X-ray and ultrasound results are from Feb 20th.
Since she said she’s already review it, I proceeded to ask a question about it and she rudely cut me off and responded with “I’ll print them out and discuss them with you later, even though it’s your doctors job” then dismissed me.
I’ve never met a more dismissive doctor in my life.
