I have had this psychiatrist for far too long. I got referred to her through AHS Access 24/7. She doesn’t even appear to listen to you as she types facing away from you as you talk. She would just ask me how the meds are and when we would get into real life shit like substance use, she would just be judgemental. For someone with the “education” that she has, she should really learn some empathy. Also she was judgemental about my life choices like not having kids and basically said I would change my mind. You’re not supposed to say things like that to patients. I had to fight to get my PTSD diagnosis. When I first approached her asking to test me for it she straight up refused. I came back another time and kept bringing it up until she finally did the test and low and behold I have PTSD. She told me that I did not experience enough repeated trauma and “effects of trauma” to have PTSD. Except she only knew a limited amount about my trauma(s) so to say that without having a full picture of someone’s life is condescending and innapropriate; not to mention unprofessional. I then asked her later to test me for ADHD and she again refused saying that I did not have it. She said if I had it the schools would have been calling home and complaining. I tried to explain to her about all my absences and bad grades, and how ADHD shows differently in girls and women and she just blamed all of that on my “depression…” which definitely played a role but to deny me a test that would maybe take 15 minutes is just unacceptable and I don’t understand why she is so stubborn and unwilling to listen to her patients; especially after I proved her wrong with the PTSD diagnosis. On top of all of this, she is refusing to release me as her patient so I can see a different psychiatrist that will actually listen. My psychologist has sent her letters and emails, even tried phoning and she does not remove me. At this point its been over a year that I am waiting for her to release me from her care. She is incredibly unhelpful and I would recommend to anyone that you stay away. I am now on a waitlist for a new psychiatrist through AHS who will hopefully get the ball rolling.
