Dr. Blair is a great psychiatrist. She believes her patients and advocates for what they need, and I’m very lucky to have been referred to her!

    SCARRED AND SCARED FOR LIFE

    15 April 2023

Blair Witch. Don’t expect any sympathy if you have medical trauma. I speculate (and her bizarre behaviour always left me speculating) this might be because she’s concerned about a conflict of interest? She refused to validate my trauma or even really comment on it in any respect, even after imploring me to recount it! This needlessly exacerbated said trauma, much of which was catalyzed by her treatments, so I had hoped she’d be more sympathetic. I will remember the way she treated me for the rest of my life. I asked her if there was any way she could report an adverse drug reaction, because I was concerned it was under-reported, as I couldn’t find anything about it online. She told me on multiple occasions that she had NO IDEA how to report side effects, and expressed zero interest in finding out. I inferred from this that it must not be expected of psychiatrists, which concerned me. Well, on further research on my part, it seems this is indeed part of her job. Health Canada encourages physicians to report. She fired me (claiming that it was because she was moving her practice, although I later discovered she was picking and choosing which patients to keep—an unsurprising, placating white lie, but of course it felt offensive given the circumstances) but didn’t close my file. All the receptionists were confused about whether I was still her patient or not, even though I was clear she had dismissed me. This lead to an intake worker giving me false hope that Blair could still provide a referral (that I have been granted previously by a different psychiatrist) to a much-needed service for me (without an appointment or much effort on her part), but instead she refused to, of course. It was the least she could do after traumatizing me for life and neglecting to close my file properly, but she chose otherwise. My loved ones were brought to tears over this. Naturally, it will be many months (at least) before I can get into a new psychiatrist, and there was probably confusion about whether I was actually on the waiting list, since my file was left gaping open! I know every doctor is overworked right now, and maybe there was some reason why she couldn’t refer me, but it seems in character that she would neglect me on purpose. She gave the impression that she resented me and just couldn’t bother to deal with me. Her valedictory lament that I was “challenging” left a bad taste in my mouth. Let me tell you, her indolence and nescience are certainly ~challenging~! But I’m sure she’s fine and perfectly pleasant if your case is ~simple~. Maybe she should do some soul searching instead of dismissing me as a crazy, aggrieved mentally ill person who should perpetually be somebody else’s problem. I have tried to rationalize her behaviour, but ultimately it is just a bit too fucked up to justify. Calling it—her abysmal bedside manner and machinating ignorance is unforgivable. Anyway, if you’re a psych patient, look up PSSD, because no doctor is going to warn you about it, even though Health Canada is now recommending that they do! Good luck out there, sufferers. Mine ran out.

    Uncaring

Dr Blair does not care about her patients. I am also doubting her knowledge as a doctor, she doesn’t seem to know medications. I’ve gotten worse and worse under her care, over the last 4 years. Yet she refuses to do something about it. She does not know anything else but psychiatry. If you ask her about what services are offered for mental health in her building, she has no idea. I really don’t know how this cold and uninterested person can be a psychiatrist. She has made me lose hope and I can’t even get a new psychiatrist because I’m “under her”.
