Dr. Countess harmed me greatly. During our initial appointment he asked me what I did for a living. I told him. He then said that I “went on and on” about what I did for a living and that, and the fact that I was a victim of a crime, was PROOF I had “all” the personality disorders. He prescribed the wrong medication, gaslighted me and later diagnosed me with something I don’t have without doing a differential diagnosis. When I asked him what diagnostic criteria he was using, he said he didn’t have to use diagnostic criteria. He then told me I was the most difficult patient he had ever had and that he didn’t understand why I didn’t like him, because “everyone loves” him. I told him I wasn’t trying to be difficult, but rather, that I was trying to advocate for myself. He then went ahead and told me that “if I was a good girl” he would remove the diagnosis from my records. I’m not sure what he meant by being a “good girl” other than not to tell anyone else about the abuse I suffered at his hands. Since he also works at the hospital, if you find yourself in an appointment with him it may be against your will. Please read up on narcissistic abuse tactics in order to protect yourself, keep your mouth shut and don’t talk about yourself AT ALL, even if he asks you direct questions. Should you disagree with his assessment of you or you feel you are being intimidated or abused, immediately ask for a second opinion and get your primary care provider to write a letter to insert in your health records countering his ridiculous allegations. If you have the strength to file a complaint, do it.
