Bewildered & Amazed
• 22 October 2022I had the misfortune of being referred to Dr. Weiss. I had read the reviews on him online (most of them negative) and wasn’t sure how it would go the first time. Let me just say he didn’t disappoint. In this ever-changing world of political correctness, I am confused as to how this man still gets away with talking to his patients the way he does. Granted, my injury wasn’t the worse he’s probably seen. However, my injury is not the topic I want to discuss here. The man did seem to take great pleasure in judging me on my weight. I had read about that he did this online before seeing him but did want to give him the benefit of the doubt. Let me just say this, there is not a person alive who does not know when they are overweight. We don’t need anyone to tell us that, but I suppose as a doctor treating injuries it could be suggested to the patient that losing weight may or may not help them with the pain they are suffering. So, it is okay to tell them that. Dr. Weiss however takes it one (or maybe two steps) further than that not resting until he humiliates his patient. I was, and am, horrified that fat shaming still takes place in this modern day and age. In a world where everyone takes things so personal, it amazes me that this man is still taking the time when he sees patients to do exactly that. I will not leave my name and email address, because while I am a bit overweight, I do not want to hear from this man again. This experience left a very bad taste in my mouth.
