• 23 November 2023WORST EMERGENCY DR. EVER (CHILDREN WITH MENTAL HEALTH!!! MY complaint I wrote to Daniel Smith.

My child was brought in under the mental health act, form 10, for………l. I came into sit with my child from 9pm-1am and was told that my child (14) was safe to be in emergency by themselves, so I was going to go home. I ended up sitting in my car and received a call from my child crying. After my child did more self harm, the doctor, Dr.A W Battison then came into the room and called my child pathetic “your pathetic doing this in the hospital”, Dr. A Battison then turned around to walk out and said, under his breath, ” so, stupid”. Dr. Basttison started to talk to the nurses. Then the nurse came into the room and demanded their own cell phone from them. My child advised ” I’m talking to my mom”, then the nurse grabbed the phone from my childs hand. My child said ” I want to talk to my mom”, the nurse said no and then my child cried in the room for approximately 30mins alone. My child then asked the nurse that they wanted to talk to me approximately 5x, then asked to talk to the police and was told no once again. Then security brought my child into a room and locked it while crying for another 20 min also in the mean time asking to call mom a handful of time and then one of the nurses finally let my child, to call me. As soon as I heard that this unprofessional Dr. Bastion had called my child pathetic I was back at the hospital with in 5-10 mins. I was pissed off and demanded to talk to this joke of a Dr. But he was a cowerd and didn’t come talk to me. All the mean time nurse H. Write and nurse M McGrath sat smerking and laughing well the third younger nurse was trying her best to help give me phone numbers and names. I ended up calling 911 to get a police officer to the hospital to talk to us. Shortly after approximately an 1hr later the student psychiatric Dr came in and talked to my child and we were sent home.
The problem I have is the unprofessional behavior that Dr. A Battison presented and should not be working with mental health patients at any hospital. I feel there should be repercussions to the unprofessional behavior to the public. I also will be sharing this to the MLA regarding the reoccurring problems of this hospital and how there are other problems that happen I’ve hear by other staff members and exstaff at this hospital and the lack of care here.
