On March 15th At approximately 18:00 hours, I presented at Scar. General Hospital emergency  ,with extreme shortness of breath, chest pain.

After a cursory and brief assessment, Dr R. Pinto would have sent me home had it not been for the intervention of compassionate nurse Meg.

Surely, I would have had to been rushed back to emerg without this kind nurses’ intervention, because I spent the next 4 days with round the clock heart attack care.

.( according to Dr J Cherry I had 2 close proximity heart attacks)

As a 20 veteran of Ontario Provincial law enforcement I was appalled at Dr R. Pinto’s treatment of a fellow racialised citizen.

Dr Pinto: cold, rude , uncaring, condescending..a blot on an otherwise decent ( and much maligned hospital: Scar General)

Subsequent treatment was excellent and the 9th floor staff were sterling, efficient and compassionate.

Thanks to Dr Cherry and 9th floor staff , I am safe at home, 7 new prescriptions on my roster, staring down the barrel of a long, frightening recovery.

Shame on Dr Pinto’s decision to send me home! .It might have killed me..( thankyou nurse Meg) and later Dr Hartman..and Dr Cherry. )

     Compassion and insight prevailed.

More sympathetic I could not be with emerg staff ( over worked , under appreciated) Pinto put me in a caste and that, as they say, was that: told to go home, I resisted between gasps of air…I was pro active and along with the wise Nurse Meg….spent the next 4 days in round the clock cardiac care.

An over all superb experience at Scarboroug General hospital, nearly marred by an uncaring, judgemental, Dr Rovina Pinto, shame on her for almost undoing her colleagues subsequent tremendous work.

How many before me, went meekly into the terrifying, cold night environs..outside the emerg doors at Scarborough General Hospital.without a whimper.

My people are Black Canadian Underground Railroad people, who sought freedom and justice in the 1860’s here in Canada, land of true freedom in a time of ruthless slavery in the U S.A. We don’t go meekly into the night.

As they say; it only takes one peron to say nothing for evil to prevail.
